Slow City Challenge, Kesennuma City, Japan

Two days Slow City workshop held in Kesennuma City Hall on September 18th and 19th 2013. Kesennuma City is the first Slow City in Japan, authenticated in 2012. Kesennuma was devastated in March 2011 by the Great East Japan Earthquake and tsunami. Mr. Akihiko Sugawara, director of Slow Food Kesennuma, delivered a lecture to the students of Kesennuma Resilience Group of Waseda University. He mentioned "We must hasten recovery from the tsunami. In order to do so, we need to carefully consider the concept of slow city at the same time for our common future".
